Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage Part C plans are an alternative way to get Original Medicare Part A and Part B coverage benefits. Effectively, Medicare Advantage strategies are “all-in-one” plans offered by private insurance companies.
With Medicare Advantage plans, you first enroll in Part A and Part B through the federal government and then you enroll in a separate Part C plan with a private insurance company. With this strategy, you will receive your Part A and Part B benefits through your Medicare Advantage plan.
What About Extra Benefits?
Most Medicare Advantage plans include Part D Prescription Drug coverage - commonly known as MAPD plans - as well as other benefits like dental, vision, hearing, and fitness.
Because there are different types of Medicare Advantage plans, different cost sharing factors, and different benefits from plan to plan, it is important to review and compare plans from different Medicare insurance companies – not just initially, but also annually.
